A place for healing,

growth, and change

As a licensed marriage and family therapist I work with children, teens, adults, couples and families. I am dedicated to providing healthy and advanced treatment alternatives. In addition to individual, relational, and couples counseling, I provide Neurofeedback therapy as an alternative, non-invasive, and drug-free treatment for ADD/ADHD, anxiety, depression, trauma, traumatic brain injury, migraines, sleep disorders, sports and academic performance, and a wide variety of other issues. Today's advanced technologies have allowed brain science researchers amazing views of our brains at work, and have led to advancements in therapeutic options, such as Neurofeedback training. We now have the technology to measure brain wave activity in real time, and identify abnormal, or dysregulated brain wave patterns related to the client's reported difficulties, and symptoms. Neurofeedback, often referred to as EEG biofeedback or brain wave training is a computer assisted process in which individuals can observe and learn to retrain the problematic brain wave patterns; calm down the overactive areas, and bring the underactive areas back online. I offer Neurofeedback in the course of therapy, or as a stand alone treatment.

I utilize Quantitative EEG's (QEEG), or brain mapping, to evaluate an individual's brain waves. The QEEG assists in identifying abnormalities in brain wave functioning that Neurofeedback might be helpful in treating. Brain mapping allows us to individualize Neurofeedback to the unique problems of each client. For example, there have been many subtypes of ADD/ADHD identified in scientific research - none of these can be diagnosed by observing behavior. A QEEG allows us to look much deeper, differentiate between these subtypes, and tailor treatment to each individual's brain pattern. The assessment allows us to determine in a highly scientific, objective manner whether and how a person's brain wave patterns are significantly different from normal.

I am also certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), which is an eye movement treatment for faster resolution of psychological distress that results from trauma. Therapeutic approaches are individually designed and tailored to assist clients in reaching their specific goals. Please see the Links & Resources page for additional information on these treatment options.
